What is fractional leadership?
Fractional leadership means hiring senior executives part-time rather than full-time. You get experienced CPO, Head of Delivery, or CX leadership embedded with your team 2-3 days per month, bringing the same expertise as a permanent hire but at a fraction of the cost and commitment. We own outcomes, integrate with your team, and drive results - just part-time.
How is this different from consulting?
Consultants advise and leave. Fractional leaders embed with your team, own outcomes, and stay accountable for results. We attend your meetings, work in your tools, integrate with your team, and take responsibility for delivery - just like a permanent hire, but part-time. We're not external advisors, we're part of your leadership team.
What does 2-3 days per month actually look like?
Typically one full day per week or distributed across the month based on your needs (e.g., two days in week 1, one day in week 3). We're also available for async communication via Slack/email between sessions for urgent decisions or questions. The exact rhythm depends on what works best for your team and the work.
How long is the commitment?
No long-term lock-in. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice. Most clients work with us for 6-18 months - long enough to embed new practices, build internal capability, and deliver meaningful outcomes. Some continue longer if the value is there, others transition to permanent hires we've helped recruit.
Can you cover gaps while we recruit permanent leadership?
Absolutely. Many clients use fractional leadership to cover gaps during recruitment (which takes 3-6 months), onboard new permanent hires, or provide support until they reach the scale that justifies permanent headcount. We can stay on to support your permanent hire during their first few months or transition out smoothly once they're embedded.
What if we need more than 2-3 days per month?
We can scale up to 4-5 days per month for critical periods like product launches, major releases, transformation programmes, or fundraising. Pricing adjusts proportionally (e.g., 4 days = £4,000/month). For full-time interim leadership needs, we can discuss dedicated arrangements.
Do you work remotely or on-site?
Both. We're based in Leeds but work across the UK and internationally. Most fractional engagements are primarily remote with occasional on-site days for workshops, team sessions, or stakeholder meetings. We adapt to what works best for your team.
Can you manage our existing team?
Yes. As fractional CPO or Head of Delivery, we can have line management responsibility for product managers, delivery managers, or designers. We run 1-1s, set objectives, provide feedback, and support their development. We coach and develop your team's capability over time.
What happens if it's not working out?
Cancel with 30 days notice, no questions asked. But we also check in regularly to ensure we're adding value. If something's not working, we discuss it openly and adjust our approach. Most clients stay because the value is clear, but you're never locked in.
